It places them in the “Trash” folder, where you can then permanently delete them or let them sit for 30 days before being deleted automatically. Don’t let this tooltip fool you-clicking this icon doesn’t actually delete the emails. If you hover over the icon, a tooltip displaying “Delete” will appear. Next, locate the Trash Can icon above the email pane. The maximum number of emails you can show per page is 100. In the left pane, select the Deleted Items folder. Alternatively, use the Advanced Search by clicking on the arrow next to the search box at the top of the screen. If you cant find an item in the Deleted Items folder, the next place to look is the Recoverable Items folder. Scroll to locate the email you want to recover. When you click or tap delete, the entire conversation is deleted, including the original email and any replies. In the menu on the left hand side of the screen, scroll down to click on the Trash folder. Gmail groups all replies to an original email together in a single conversation.
